Neighbors,

If you missed last month's meeting, you missed a great time.  We had many visitors and a great time of fellowship.

The Board prepared a budget that we were to present last night, but due to the amount of visitors, we opted to hold off discussion and voting for the Sept 4th meeting.  We passed out copies but did not have enough so see below for details as  promised.

Imagination Library

They will not have the fish fry and art auction this year, but appreciate your donations of your time, expertise, and money.  Many of you have first-hand experience in seeing the importance of books in children's lives. Thank you for all you do to make that difference for all of our county's children.

A donation of $60.00 will give a book every month of the next year to 5 of our children; $120.00 will make it happen for 10 of them. Please continue to support this great program. Checks can be directed to Fayette Literacy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, at the address below.

Thanks so much, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

A Message from the President

I want to thank everyone for a wonderful turnout at last night’s meeting. For a gymnasium, the Hospitality volunteers did another wonderful job setting up the tables and decorations.

On behalf of the HWCA, we all wish to thank outgoing President George McCloud, Vice President Joann Allen, Treasurer Ed Patnode and Secretary Donna Wainscott for their invaluable service to our community. It is the volunteerism of individuals like these that make our organization what it is today.

Now looking forward, I welcome the challenge and honor to serve as President of the HWCA alongside Vice President Becky Evans, Treasurer Jim Mitchell and Secretary Beverly Avery. Once again our organization is blessed with a wonderful Board of Directors to serve you.

My first task is to organize our committees and accept applications. Our Standing Committees are: Hospitality, Membership, Bylaws and Benevolence. I ask each of you to consider “stepping up” and volunteering for one of these positions. Our organization is stronger with each individual becoming involved. All of you that are interested please send me a private email at: dalipastures@bellsouth.net or give me a call at 901-465-7985.

As your new Board of Directors develops fun and interesting programs for the HWCA meetings, we also ask that you send us ideas. Everyone is creative in their own way and your help is most appreciated!

Warmest Regards,

Rudy Watkins
